Trust our politicians to forever propose formulas that require large and costly bureaucracies.
If the proposals for road pricing and bridge tolls go forward, tens of millions will be wasted on new tolling equipment and large staffs to maintain and collect them.
Why? A simple gas tax increase treats everyone fairly, requires no new bureaucracies and can be put to a simple and honest question on a referendum: “Do you favour paying more for gas?”
Why is that difficult?

Tired of TransLink
I think the people of the Lower Mainland are getting sick and tired of hearing about TransLink’s money problems.
One day they need money because ridership is down. The next day they need money because ridership is at capacity and they need more money for buses.
It’s feast or famine for TransLink and I know I’ve had my fill of their crying. Make up their mind, do something about it, and shut up.
