Follow Europe’s lead

Get on with it. It is high time for our elected officials and planners to get off of their collective rear ends and get on with the planning and building of a light rapid rail system serving the upper and lower Fraser Valley.

If they are in need of a blueprint as to how a system such as this functions, they only have to take a page out of the transit system book that serves major cities and towns in Europe.

I have had the pleasure of riding surface trains, subways and buses in several countries and I can say that it was a joy. There were no long wait times in inclement conditions, the service was expedient and comfortable, and for the most part, environmentally friendly.

I especially enjoyed the double decker electric trains that criss-cross Europe.
