Governments need to spend more

Large companies are sitting on millions of dollars, but there’s little for most people.

I feel our present governments, provincial and federal, have got it wrong.

In order to say to the public and taxpayers at the end of their electoral mandate that they are very prudent with the taxpayers’ money, they cut back on spending on practically every department of government.

When the majority of people no longer have enough money to spend on consumer goods, small business does not receive enough in order to stay in business.

It was John Maynard Keynes and Theodore Roosevelt in the 1930s who believed in putting government money to work and thereby putting money in the hands of working people and eventually small business.

When the government started spending on war material, that ended the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Unfortunately a lot of people were killed in the process.

Large companies and corporations today are sitting on millions of dollars and it is only the shareholders that are doing well.
