Enough of this “rental suites” topic.
Lately, every time I open the newspaper I see people attacking or blaming Mayor Dianne Watts and the City of Surrey for rental suite issues.
This is a free country and people can do anything as long as it is not criminal. It is not a crime to own a big house with rental suites and besides, there are people out there depending on this kind of low monthly rental. It’s none of our business for people owning a big house with rental suites. Don’t go blaming Mayor Watts and the City of Surrey for not collecting extra taxes from these landlords.
Speaking of paying extra taxes, there are people out there not paying taxes as you know, I know. Example? Multi-millionaires have their money overseas, not paying taxes. Nothing we can do. People smuggling drugs, selling marijuana to drug dealers and not paying taxes – nothing we can do.
Enough of this cracking down and demanding taxes from rental suites.
