Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories honouree Dorothy Gibbs and her daughter Morag Richie.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the hundreds of volunteers, caregivers, people with dementia, and members of the public who supported the Investors Group Walk for Memories on Jan. 25. The event raised hundreds of thousands of dollars locally and throughout the province.

This year’s honouree for the Surrey, North Delta, and White Rock area – a longtime volunteer, Dorothy Gibbs – is grateful for the response and extends heartfelt best wishes to those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, as well as to their care partners.

More than 70,000 British Columbians have Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. More than 10,000 diagnosed in B.C. are under the age of 65. Many more people are affected, as dementia impacts the whole family and friends.

Again, thank you so much for your support. Funds raised will provide hope for today and hope for the future.
