LETTER: Hiring preferences based on race is wrong

The Editor,

Re: "Company claims staff were harassed for being Chinese," the Now, April 3. Racism should be wrong for all, even for employers of minorities.

A Surrey metal recycling plant is crying wolf, using the "no-English" clause of their staff as their defence against local bylaw officers. Nobody should tolerate companies, corporations or industries whose hiring preferences are within a chosen minority group. Hire the best qualified Canadians – without discrimination or close the business! Isn’t that the law? Or is there some secret back door privileges for some?
