LETTER: Judges should err on side of caution with suspected sex criminals

The Editor,

Re: "Bowling alley owner accused of sex crimes," the Now, Feb. 6.

I read about the owner of the Dell Lanes, Thomas Charles Cooper, continuing on with his duties, despite being up on seven sex-related charges involving minors.

That, to me, is disturbing because even though he has not been convicted yet, the judges should err on the side of caution when releasing individuals on bail, especially when it's heinous crimes such as these.

If something were to happen, the judges are not held accountable.

If these charges prove to be true, our judiciary needs to send a strong message to people who victimize children and sentence Mr. Cooper to the maximum allowable by law.
