Thank you for speaking out on the issue of mental illness in your newspaper. Mental illness surpasses cancer in its impact on family life, the workplace, and our communities.
Clearly, we cannot afford to keep ignoring this problem. The government can cut prison costs by investing in people instead of jails. We have regressed by 170 years of using jails as a fall-back treatment.
Politicians can do a great service for vulnerable people and their loved ones by making this issue a priority for their election platforms.
