I am one of those smart meter hold-outs. I am on a monthly payment plan like most people with BC Hydro, so every month they take their money and no they don’t have to read the meter each month. And once a year on reconciliation month, I can phone in my readings or take a picture and they have my readings.
I know lots of people where Hydro does not have access to their meter and once a year they phone it in – problem solved. So when they start charging “peak period” usage, they won’t be able to tell when I use Hydro. I should have that choice.
