Roses and Rotten Tomatoes (June 23, 2017)

Our weekly collection of compliments and complaints sent in by readers.

  • A dressing room full of roses and ice cream to our grandson and his Hawks teammates as they wrap up their ball hockey season. Thanks for a very exciting and entertaining final game! Thanks also to the coaches and manager for devoting your time to these great young men.
  • A big beautiful bouquet of roses to Ryan and Andrew who went the extra mile at Save-On Foods. Thanks, you’re the best!
  • How about some rotten tomatoes to people who do nothing but gossip? It doesn’t make you look good. It makes you look foolish, immature and unprofessional. Try taking deep breaths, then stop and think before you speak.
  • Rotten tomatoes to me for being so impatient and egotistical. To those who I have offended and hurt, I am sorry.
  • Rotten tomatoes to the person in Cloverdale who complained about kids playing basketball at 7:30 a.m. It sure is nice they are out getting exercise instead of playing video games.
  • Red roses to Surrey. I was born back east, but I have lived here much longer for 20 years now and love my neighbourhood. Surrey is where my life is and I could never ask for more.
  • Sweet smelling roses to Mr. James Chapman for taking such amazing care of me while calling in my car accident to 911. Also for calling my family as I had left my phone at home. Your kindness and calm manner was appreciated more than I can say.
  • Truck loads of roses to the Surrey Fire Department for coming out early Saturday morning June 10th and for the ambulance attendants who transported me to Surrey Memorial Hospital from Tim Horton’s in Guildford, where I received very quick and professional treatment. Roses and thanks to you all.
  • A truck load of moldy rotten tomatoes to the losers who dump their mattresses and other items on our streets under the cover of darkness. You know who you are.
  • Rotten tomatoes for people who complain and do not have the facts accurate. Cars in a roundabout have the right of way, the cars entering must yield to all cars in the roundabout and only enter when it is safe and no cars are coming towards them in the roundabout from the left. So when four or five cars go one after the other, that is exactly how it works. Go back to driving school and learn the rules!
  • Rotten tomatoes to the bad driver who wrote here recently about roundabouts. British Columbia rules for roundabouts are that the vehicle in the roundabout has the right of way. It states “yield to the traffic that is already inside the roundabout.” So, giving way to traffic entering from the right is not correct.
  • Rotten tomatoes to Surrey bylaws for not enforcing noise bylaws. Vehicles with modified mufflers or no mufflers are roaring through residential areas at all hours. This is from a sleep-deprived citizen.
  • Rotten tomatoes to annoying employers who take resumés in person but don’t call people back for interviews. Stop wasting our time already!
