• Bouquets of roses to the three ladies who ‘paid it forward’ and treated us to our late lunch on the Sunday before Labour Day at Original Joe’s in Cloverdale.
Thank you so much, and we will continue this lovely gesture.
• A case load of roses and cheeseburgers to the two young men at McDonald’s 102 and King George Boulevard, Sunday, Sept. 15, around 1:30. It was the birthday of one of them, but they ordered at least 30 to 40 cheeseburgers and fries and went outside and gave them to the homeless. What a warm and overwhelming generous thing for them to do. Thank you to them both, we can all learn from them.
• A mountain of roses to the hard-working traffic controllers at the numerous construction sites around town.
• A lovely rose to each of the staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency who recently attended to my (nearly 101-year-old) mom recently. Although there was an overwhelming number of people/patients there (it took us four hours from entrance to exit), they were very kind, patient and empathetic to her. Thank you. As to the paper's recent article on the subject, my guess is at least 20 per cent of the people seeking treatment there could have been dealt with by a walk-in clinic if only they were more accessible by better staffing (particularly doctors) and hours. Roses to people who realize emergency rooms do not have the space to deal with patients' entourages! One person should be adequate as attendee for persons requiring assistance and/or translator. And to those of you who do not give your chair to someone needing it, you get the rotten tomatoes!
