The story in The Leader on Thursday, July 10 (“Pedestrians injured in consecutive crashes”) filled me with sadness.
I wondered whose life would be more changed – the young woman driver or the woman she injured? Or our life together?
Can you tell me why we must continue to support systems, in this case fast roadways, which predictably kill a certain number of people every day? Is it for our convenience or to serve the economy? Is it worth it?
She is my daughter. This has changed my life.
Yesterday I began a journey: 40 days, 40 letters, 40 per cent slower. This is my second letter. It is not much, but it’s a start.
What would our lives be like if road speeds were reduced by 40 per cent? How many lives would be saved? How much less costly? Would it be worth it?
