So, Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts has come up with an alternative plan to get the money for the express bus stop: Axe the improvements to the Newton Bus Exchange, which according to her we didn’t want anyway, (news to me) and use that money to build the infrastructure for a stop at Highway 1 and 156 Street.
Talk about throwing Newton under the bus again. This improvement has been talked about and delayed for years.
The current Newton exchange is a mess, probably the most derelict exchange in the region.
Watts seems to have the idea firmly implanted in her mind that Newton is just “collateral damage” in her greater scheme of things.
This must not happen.

Bus schedule is bizarre
I think it is totally bizarre not to have a bus running from Surrey across the new Port Mann Bridge so that we can travel to Coquitlam centre and east and west to Port Moody and Maple Ridge.
As it stands now, we have to travel five miles out of our way to backtrack to these places. People from White Rock have to travel east to Langley to head west to go across the bridge.
What about teens and potential jobs? Even Greyhound only stops in Langley and on the other side of the bridge, which mean a $20 cab ride back to Surrey.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
