The other day I was out with my eight year-old son picking up garbage on our street, as we have done before.
My son asked me, “why do people litter?”
I didn’t have a good answer. What am I supposed to say to him?
I don’t know why people litter, why smokers think the world is their ashtray and why people think it is okay to abandon their used furniture on city streets and sidewalks.
I can only hope that my son will grow up knowing that littering is utterly unacceptable.
