Four local sides start play in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League

The game was one of six played Saturday in Newton, the first day of play in the 12-team VMSL Premier Division schedule. Two other local teams were in action. The Delta Hurricanes defeated Richmond FC Hibernians 3-2, while the Surrey United Firefighters fell 1-0 to West Van FC.

Surrey United is in Burnaby tonight (Friday) to play Estrella de Chile to start Week Two of the VMSL schedule.The Rovers are at home at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Newton Athletic Park against Coquitlam Metro Ford Wolves, while Pegasus is on the North Shore for a game with Norvan Pacific. On Sunday, the Hurricanes will be the home team at 2 p.m. at John Oliver Park in North Delta with Columbus FC the visitors.
