The Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) Eagles badminton team won a silver medal at the Pacific Western Athletic Conference (PACWEST) championship last weekend in Richmond, qualifying five players for the national championship Feb. 26 to March 1 in Edmonton.

The Eagles placed second to the Langara Falcons in the team standings, after winning three silver medals in individual competition. Kwantlen’s Brad Mear of Campbell River won a silver medal in the men’s single competition, while the Eagles won two more silver medals in doubles play. Alisa Young and Willine Kwee placed second in the women’s category, with Chris Chung and Rosalynn Chong teamed up for the silver in mixed competition.

All five KPU athletes will play at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association national tournament in Edmonton.
