A guest appearance at Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino by Canada's leading standardbred driver on Remembrance Day resulted in big winnings for the Royal Canadian Legion.

Scott Zeron, who won four harness races at the B.C. Breeders Classic Day on Nov. 11, donated $2,200 in winnings to the Royal Canadian Legion, a sum matched by Fraser Downs management.

The 22-year-old Zeron hails from Ontario. This was his first trip to B.C. He didn't arrive until 9 a.m. the morning of the races, because he'd attended a Salvation Army Toys For Tots campaign kickoff in Milton, ON the night before.

Zeron, who's already amassed more than $14.8 million in career purses and some 1,500 trips to the winner's circle, will also be donating a portion of his winnings at upcoming December races at Woodbine.

"Not only did Scott donate his driving earnings at Fraser Downs to the Royal Canadian Legion," says Jackson Wittup, director of racing. "He also gave up 12 drives from a very lucrative Woodbine card on Friday night. It tells you what this young man is all about."
