Former Eagle a Young Star

Karel St.-Laurent, who was the Surrey Eagles go-to man between the pipes last season, has been named to the Vancouver Canucks roster for the Young Stars Tournament in Penticton this month.

The six-foot-four, 195-pound St.-Laurent had a strong showing at Canucks prospect camp earlier this summer. In 32 regular-season games with the Eagles last season, the Ste-Catharine, Que.-native went 19-12-1 with a 2.74 goals-against average and .916 save percentage, taking his BCHL team to the Coastal Conference final this spring.

Featuring prospects from the Canucks, the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets, the Young Stars Tournament runs Sept. 11 to 15 at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
