The slide down the Pacific Coast International Hockey League standings continues for the North Delta Devils.

The Junior B team did earn a point Saturday night at the Sungod Arena, going to overtime before losing 2-1 to the Port Moody Black Panthers.

Trevor Kang, who wore the red, black and white Devils jersey last season, tallied the winning goal in extra time with an unassisted effort four minutes in.

Christian Rodriguez scored the lone goal for the home team, netting his sixth of the season with less than six minutes left in the second period, a powerplay goal assisted by Darren Ascuncion and Taylan Kornelsen which tied the contest 1-1.

The Black Panthers dominated play for much of the game, outshooting North Delta 51-29, and had a 6-1 shots on goal advantage in the four minutes of overtime.

Alex Ahnert kept the Devils in the game, making 44 of 45 saves in regulation time and earning the game’s first star honour.

The loss dropped North Delta to 21-15-5 (won-lost-overtime loss) on the season, and a point back of the third place Grandview Steelers in the Tom Shaw Conference standings.

After collecting 19 wins in their first 28 games, the Devils are just 2-8-3 in their past 13.

North Delta played a rematch against the Black Panthers last night (Tuesday) in Port Moody, then will travel to Squamish Saturday night for a contest with the 6-30-4 Wolf Pack.
