A pair of victories in an eight-hour time span lifted the Surrey Storm to a B.C. Hockey Midget Tier 4 championship.

The Storm, the host team for the seven-team tournament played last week at the North Surrey Recreation Centre, defeated the Nakusp Falcons 5-2 Thursday afternoon to place first after round robin play. Surrey scored three times in 93 seconds early in the game for the win.

Less than four hours later, the Storm was back on the ice again against the Saanich Braves in the championship game. After a scoreless first period, Surrey tallied a pair of unanswered goals in the second, with Peter Levarsky netting the first on an assist from Jake Martic. Manpreet Malhi set up Brendan Rosekrans for the second.

Steven Curry assisted on a score from Nizam Hanif early in the third period, then after the Braves notched their only goal of the game,  Currey found the net twice to complete the scoring. Cary Sutter and Balkarn Nagra were credited with the assists.
