The Surrey Eagles absorbed a 7-3 pounding at the hands of the host Coquitlam Express to stretch their their road winless streak to seven games in B.C. Hockey League action Wednesday (Jan. 15).

The Eagles surrendered two first period power-play goals, but managed to battle back to tie game at 2-2 before the first intermission. That was it for Surrey highlights, however, as Coquitlam struck for three unanswered goals in the middle frame and added two more in the third period before Surrey’s Braedan Russell potted a meaningless power-play goal with less than three minutes remaining.

Danton Heinen and Nathan Renouf also scored for Surrey.

Corey Mackin and Canon Pieper each netted a pair for the Express.

South Surrey Arena will play host to a pair of games this weekend with visits from the Trail Smoke Eaters Friday (7 p.m.) and the front running Langley Rivermen Sunday (4 p.m.).
