The Surrey Guildford United Under-16 Boys Metro team struck gold at the provincial championships July 6 at Burnaby Lake West.
The provincial tournament brings together teams from across British Columbia to compete against the best teams in their age and ability category. Surrey Guildford posted an undefeated record at the tourney with two wins and two ties. United opened the round robin portion of the tourney by beating the Burnaby Selects 4-0, followed by a 2-2 draw with Kamloops 2-and a scoreless result against Vancuver Island’s Lakehill/Gorge.
That was good enough for a berth in final where they once again topped Burnaby, this time by a 3-1 score.
Surrey Guildford United finished the year with a record of 13 wins, four ties and two losses en route to winning the Metro Select League and the provincial title.
