Synchro teams golden

The Surrey-based B.C. Aquasonics struck gold at Synchro Canada's National Qualifier Championships in Montreal March 14-16.

Aquasonics teams emerged with two gold medals, winning the top prize for both Senior Free Routine and Age 13-15 Combo.

The Aquasonics senior team (including Anna Seiler, Madyson Stickley, Erin Williams of Surrey; Mackenzy Higgins of White Rock) posted a score of 71.3333 to win gold with their Atlantis routine.

The Age 13-15 combo team (Jessica Friesen, Seray Sefayi, Courtney Armstrong and Nancy Zhang of Surrey; Grace Macdonald and Abby Rothwell of Delta) scored 64.9667 to take first place for their hockey routine.

Sefayi also qualified to compete at the Canadian Open Synchronized Swimming Championships in Saskatoon, April 30 to May 4. Sefayi will take her solo next to the Canadian Espoir Championships, June 4 to 8 in Kamloops.

The Aquasonics Junior Team (including Sefayi, Stickley and Seiler) also had a Top 10 finish in Montreal, placing ninth in the junior finals.
