Three gold medals for Delta Deas rowers

Members of the Delta Deas Rowing Club returned from the 57th annual Shawnigan Lake Regatta on Vancouver Island with six medals, three of which were gold.

Jon Hodgins and Stuart Velestuk won three medals each. They teamed with Logan Krezin and Quinn Torol to win gold in the Junior B Boys quadruple sculls, then Hodgins and Velestuk captured the silver medal in the Junior B Boys double sculls.

In Junior B boys singles, Velestuk won gold and Hodgins earned the bronze.

Rachel Mehling and Jessica Lawrence each collected two medals. They were the bronze medalists in the Junior B (under-17) Novice Girls duo, then joined Mckayla Cowie, Caitlyn Lawrence and coxswain Julia Moniz-Lenz to win gold in the Junior A (under-19) Novice Girls coxed quadruple sculls event.

The club will host the 30th annual Delta Deas Scholastic Regatta May 27-28 at Deas Island Regional Park.
