Tritons sweep Kamloops tourney

The White Rock Tritons bantam AAA wrapped up pre-season baseball action

with an undefeated run at the Big League Experience Best of the West tournament in Kamloops April 4 to 6. The Tritons won all five games at the Kamloops showcase en route to the championship. White Rock rode the pitching of Marshal Luiz to a 5-1 win over the Okotoks Dawgs in their opener followed by a narrow 2-0 win over the Nanaimo Pirates. Sam Shoemaker earned the shutout win on the mound for the Tritons.

White Rock continued to roll on the second day of the competition, thanks to a gem of a game tossed by Perrin Finley in an early morning 7-0 win over the Okanagan

Athletics. The Tritons then closed out round-robin play with an impressive 11-6 win over Alberta's Spruce Grove White Sox.

White Rock wrapped up the tourney the same way they started, beating the Okotoks Dawgs in the title game.

The score was tied 1-1 after four innings before the Tritons broke the game open with one run in the bottom of the fifth and five more in the sixth en route to a convincing 7-1 win.

Jackson Hogg had two timely doubles to help the Tritons cause at the plate, while Shoemaker picked up the win on the mound.
