Two infielders selected in annual MLB amateur draft

Two players from Surrey and North Delta were selected in Major League Baseball's annual amateur draft last week.

Leading off was Cloverdale's Mitchell Robinson, who was tabbed by the Miami Marlins in the 22nd round.

Robinson, a Grade 12 student at Clayton Heights Secondary,

currently plays third base for the Langley Blaze where he is hitting .323 in 21 games this season.

Robinson has accepted a scholarship to attend Florida International University beginning in September.

In the 39th round, the Houston Astros selected North Delta Blue Jays shortstop Brad Antchak.

A recent graduate of Sands Secondary, Antchak hit .331 with 19 RBIs in 47 games last season.
