The White Rock Renegades are hosting their much-loved Canadian Open once again, but this time the senior team is swimming in foreign waters... literally.

"I'm very excited to play Canada," said Courtney Gill, 26, who's playing in her 10th Canadian Open for the Renegades. "Obviously, it would be nice – I'm not going to say completely unrealistic to beat them – but it would be very nice to beat them here at the home park. For sure. As the host team."

The Renegades' senior team is, for the first time, competing in a pool not just with club teams like their own, but against Canada, USA, and Japan. They'll play all three on Friday and Saturday to close out their round robin.

The game against Canada is, fittingly, the Fastpitch Championship's final pre-playoff game – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at South Surrey's Softball City.

"We've played against everyone who's on that team," said Gill. "They're all familiar faces, that's for sure."
