A woman who worked as a dental hygienist in Langley for four years without being properly registered has agreed to quit the profession and never apply to practice again.
Barbara Host was disciplined by the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) after the most recent incident.
It was the second time she has been disciplined for working without being properly registered with the college.
According to the consent agreement posted online, Host had been investigated in 2008 for practicing as a hygienist while not registered with the College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia.
She had promised not to repeat the conduct again.
From 2014 to 2023, Host was registered with the BCCOHP as a non-practicing hygienist, the consent order says.
But on Oct. 26, 2023, a patient complained to the BCCOHP, saying Host had been her assigned hygienist while not authorized to practice.
The college found Host had been providing services to the public from September 2019 all the way up to October of last year.
She also misrepresented her status to her employer, and was working without professional liability insurance.
The consent agreement does not identify the dental practice where Host worked.
As part of the agreement, Host agreed to resign from the BCCOHP’s register and to never apply to be reinstated in B.C.
Host signed the agreement on April 25.
