George Boyd, aged 85, passed away 18th November, 2007 at Surrey Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.

George was born on October 27th 1922 in Port Kells to Robert & Henrietta Boyd, the youngest of five children. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in Nov 1942 and was stationed on Vancouver Island for the duration of the war. Later he turned to construction and through hard work went on to run his own dump truck business before retiring in 1987. George married Aline Granley on May 7, 1955 becoming a loving husband and father to her two children and eventually his third child. George enjoyed travelling to Yuma and Timothy Lake during much of his retirement and was an avid fisherman. His family and friends pay this tribute to him:

George Boyd was a special man of extraordinary integrity and his quiet strength will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

George is pre-deceased by sisters Helen Goddard and Laura Gamage, brother Walter Boyd, son Dean Granley and son-in-law Wallace Finnigan. George is survived by sister Jesse Gamage, wife Aline Boyd, daughter Jean Finnigan, son Gary Boyd and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway at noon on Sunday 25th November, enquiries to 604-589-2559.
