WestJet surprised travellers with Christmas presents they'd wished for prior to takeoff...

VIDEO: WestJet stuns Calgary destined passengers with ‘Christmas Miracle’

The company's newest Christmas video has racked up over 116,000 views in just over a day on YouTube.

WestJet’s ‘Christmas Miracle’ is tearing up the Internet, racking up 116,514 views and counting on the company’s YouTube channel in under 24 hours.

The video was posted on Sunday, and started to make the viral rounds on social media on Monday (according to the CBC).

WestJet, based in Calgary, used a virtually displayed (but real) Santa to ask passengers traveling from Toronto and Hamilton to Alberta what they wanted for Christmas. Santa, of course, knew their names. (They had just scanned their boarding passes, after all.)

As passengers – parents, grandparents, and young children – told Santa what they wanted for Christmas, a few volunteers watched and took notes. Wishes ranged from an underwear and socks (maybe he should have thought bigger) to a whole big-screen TV. There were some tablets and smartphones. One woman just wanted a flight home for Christmas.

The volunteers – 175 in total – then rushed out to malls around Calgary, at BestBuy on 17th Avenue and CrossIron Mills, and picked up the presents. They wrapped them, addressing each personally, and then – when they passengers expected their baggage to come tumbling down the carousel – they delivered them.

WestJet thanked Studio M, a production company from Toronto, for the video.

If the video tops 200,000 views, WestJet says it will give away holidays flights to a family in need.
