CITY CENTRE — Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner lit up Surrey's 55-foot Christmas tree on Saturday during the annual Tree Lighting Festival.

Just before flicking the switch around 6:30 p.m., Hepner noted Surrey's rivaled New York's Rockefeller Christmas Tree in size, which stands at 78 feet tall.

Huge crowds flocked to the event, which offered up a plethora of family fun including cookie decorating and other crafts, a Christmas market, food trucks, a mini train, a "toddler zone" in the atrium of city hall and tons of music performances.
