CLOVERDALE – The long-established band Blue Rodeo will headline Surrey’s Canada Day party this year.
The July 1 event, one of the nation’s largest Canada Day celebrations, will also feature The Zolas, Zerbin, a Tragically Hip tribute band called The Hip Show, Me and Mae and other performers.
Concert details were announced on Tuesday morning (May 26).
More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the day-long event, held annually at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale.
"The event marks Canada’s 148th birthday and highlights include top-notch entertainment, a half-a-million square feet of site area, an expanded Kids Play area, family fun for all ages, over 100 exhibitors, amusements with midway games and rides and a spectacular fireworks show for the grand finale," event organizers stated.
The event is free to the public and opens at 10 a.m.; the concert-closing fireworks show
is at 10:15 p.m. Other performers will include Madeline Merlo, Little India, young Tyson Venegas singing "O Canada," Cedar Hills Caledonian Pipe Band, Langley Ukulele Ensemble, Jessie Farrell and Rockin’ Robin and the Magical Tree.
