SURERY — The ribbon was cut on the city's new Bon Accord pedestrian bridge in North Surrey on Saturday (May 2).

The bridge is part of a five-kilometre cycling connection between Surrey City Centre and the Fraser Heights neighbourhood (scroll through images to see map).

The city and province jointly funded the $2.3-million project, with half of the total cost coming from the provincial government's Provincial Gateway program for cycling.

Surrey Coun. Dave Woods and Surrey-Tynehead MLA Amrik Virk attended the grand-opening event.
