Whether it’s an heirloom like a family quilt, a scrapbook filled with photos and letters, a snazzy digital slideshow – or even an artificial limb – there’s a story behind it.
Remarkably, these are just a few of the objects people have brought to the Cloverdale Library’s annual family history show and tell event.
It’s a forum where people who have been documenting their family history can share their discoveries and showcase their treasures with a wider audience.
This year’s Family History Show and Tell is Saturday, Nov. 30 from 1:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants are invited to share their stories. A laptop and a projector will be available for those wishing to demonstrate their family history websites or digital collections.
(Please note: There’s a 10-minute time limit for your talk.)
Visitors without stories are also welcome to attend. They may discover a great Christmas gift idea or simply be inspired, organizers say.
Some light refreshments will be provided.
The program is free, but pre-registration is necessary. Do so in person at the Cloverdale Library, call 604-598-7327 or email familyhistory@surrey.ca.
