Farmers' markets are offering fresh

B.C. farmers' markets are hoping to showcase the benefits of shopping local for in-season foods, produce, and goods with their "It feels better at the farmers' market" campaign.

Across the province there are more than 125 farmers' markets offering the public an opportunity to meet local farmers and learn who produces food and where it comes from.Evan Seal selfie

In Surrey, the Surrey Urban Farmers' Market runs every Wednesday until Oct. 8 from 12-5 p.m. outside the new Surrey City Hall.

This year the B.C. Association of Farmers' Markets is hosting a "Market Selfie" photo contest to allow people to showcase the experiences they have at their hometown markets and to win prizes in the process. The deadline to enter is July 21.
