Junior players sizzle during Odlum Brown Classic at Northview

SURREY – Some outstanding scores were recorded during the Odlum Brown Classic, a Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event played at Northview’s two golf courses from July 27 to 29.

The PGA of BC Junior Championship tournament saw 110 junior golfers compete for titles in six divisions.

In the Girls division, it took eight under-par scores from Euna Han, 12, of Coquitlam, and 14-year-old Tiffany Kong, of Vancouver, to force a playoff that resulted in Kong being crowned Junior Girls champ.

In Junior Boys action, Connor McLellan, 19, of Chilliwack, took top spot, followed by Harry Bains, 17, of Surrey and Tyler Leclair, 18, of North Vancouver.

Surrey’s Khan Lee, 15, triumphed as Juvenile Boys champ after he fired 70-71-74 (215) for a 10-stroke victory over runnerup Andy Kim, 15, of Langley. "Everything was great," said Lee. "My putting was better than before and my game plan was solid. I feel happy for winning my divisions by a lot of strokes and on my home course."

Other division winners were West Van’s Julie (Youn Soo) Ju, 14, in the U15 Girls category, Richmond’s Brycen Ko, 11, in Peewee Boys and Vernon’s Braeden Cooper, 14, in Bantam Boys.
