Easter Island has long been a subject of curiosity and speculation.
How and why did its inhabitants carve and transport the massive statues which surround the islands? What remains of this culture today, and what lessons can we learn from their legacy?
Come to the George Mackie Library, 8440 112 St. in Delta for a presentation called Mysterious Giants of Easter Island by John Gordon, winner of both provincial and national photography awards.
The photo-illustrated talk takes place Wednesday, Nov. 9, 7-8:30 p.m.
Gordon has been a professional photographer for more than 25 years. Retired as a staff photographer for the Langley Times, he runs a successful commercial and stock photography business. The rest of the time he travels to exotic destinations like India, North and East Africa, the Middle East, Europe and South America.
