A large crowd was welcomed Saturday to the Surrey RCMP’s main detachment in Sullivan Heights for an annual open house.
The family-friendly event allowed the public to check out the Air 1 helicopter, hear police briefings for kids. The Emergency Response Team and Explosives Disposal Unit were also in attendance.
Surrey RCMP Corporal said the open house was a chance to “get to know your local Mounties and get a behind-the-scenes look at our operations.”
The open house was staged prior to National Police Week in Canada (May 15-21).
“Police Week provides an opportunity to open our doors to the public who will be able to learn more about our programs, specialized services, and ask any burning questions they’ve always wanted answered about policing,” said Schumann.
