| WHALLEY — Surrey Urban Farmers Market is returning to its roots this summer.
The weekly market will be held on the plaza outside North Surrey Recreation Centre, starting on June 8.
For the past two years, the market was held at Surrey City Hall Plaza.
The move back to its original location, at the rec centre plaza, was made to appease vendors, Ali White, the market's new manager, told the Now.
"The (city hall plaza) site just wasn't bringing in enough foot traffic, because it's a bit sheltered there," she said. "The rec centre was popular, and more people tend to walk through there, more foot traffic."
Some vendors weren't willing to return to markets held at city hall plaza, she added.
So far this year, 18 to 20 vendors have signed on for the 2016 market season, White said.
"We're always looking for more vendors," she said.
The market is held every Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m. at 10275 City Parkway, next to the bus loop.
Shoppers will find local farmers, food producers and artisans at the market, which features a different them each week.
"Come by with the family for a snack at our food trucks, or drop by for some groceries after work," reads a post on the market website.
