Vaisakhi Festival as big as ever

Enormous crowds gather in Newton for Sikh celebration.



Five-month-old Himmat Singh Chauhan (left) – wearing ear protection – took part in Surrey’s Vaisakhi Festival on Saturday.

Crowd estimates hovered around 250,000 this year.

The event marks the Punjabi new year and the harvest festival in the Punjab region of India.
