Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s annual “Traditional Christmas” concert tour includes two performances in Surrey on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Holiday-season songs and carols will be heard at Bell Performing Arts Centre, first at 4 p.m. and then again at 7:30. Tickets start at $41 on vancouversymphony.ca, or call 604-876-3434.

Host of the concerts is Christopher Gaze, founding artistic director of Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival in Kitsilano.

This year’s program features the music of “Silver Bells,” “White Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” “Babes in Toyland: March of the Toys,” Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite” and much more.

Guest performers include sopranos Diana Agasian and Marina Agasian, and assistant conductor David Bui.

The VSO’s “Traditional Christmas” tour of Metro Vancouver starts Dec. 6 at Burnaby’s Michael J. Fox Theatre and ends Dec. 16 with two performances at Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver.

The orchestra’s other December concerts include Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” (Dec. 9-10 at Chan Centre, UBC), the “Home Alone” movie in concert (Dec. 13-14 at Orpheum), “The Snowman” animated feature (Dec. 17, Orpheum) and Will Ferrell’s “Elf” movie in concert (Dec. 21-22, Orpheum).

The VSO is collecting personal care items at all December concerts to support Covenant House and youth in the community. Visit the Symphony of Giving display in the lobby to drop off items.

Elsewhere in Surrey, an “O Come All Ye Soulful” concert Dec. 16 will feature vocalist Dawn Pemberton, bassist/bandleader Jodi Proznick and band at Surrey City Hall’s Centre Stage theatre.
