People are paying up to $398 to see and hear Korean film star Jung Hae-in at a “fan meeting” event in Surrey.
Tickets start at $248 for the Nov. 24 event at Bell Performing Arts Centre, a 1,062-seat venue for the star of popular Korean dramas.
A post on the theatre’s website notes that the FNC Entertainment-managed Hai-in is considered a “Hallyu” star, which means an actor or singer from Korea who is popular not only in their home country, but all over the world.
A seating map shows close to half of the tickets sold, as of Nov. 1, and sold-out rows closest to the stage. It’s a two-hour event at the Sullivan Heights-area theatre that Friday, starting at 7 p.m.
On Instagram, Hae-in has more than 11 million followers.
The 35-year-old actor first made an appearance in AOA Black’s music video for “Moya” in 2013 and officially debuted through the TV series “Bride of the Century” the next year, according to Wikipedia.
“He gained recognition for his main role in 2017 television series ‘While You Were Sleeping’ and for his supporting role in ‘Prison Playbook.’ Jung had his first lead role in the 2018 drama ‘Something in the Rain,’ and followed with ‘One Spring Night’ in 2019. Jung gained even greater recognition through his lead roles in ‘D.P.’ (2021–23) and ‘Snowdrop’ (2021–22).”
Jung’s first acting experience was in a college musical. “However his determination to become an actor was established when he was in the military service and he lost 12 kilograms in order to achieve his dream,” Wikipedia says. “He debuted at the age of 26.”
