Last seen in White Rock pre-pandemic – in 2019 – award-winning Toronto-based a cappella ensemble Countermeasure returns to Blue Frog Studios, 1328 Johnston Rd. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.

Featuring an all-star line-up of top vocal talents, the 11-member group performs innovative arrangements of pop favourites, classic jazz standards, and original songs.

In addition to flawless harmonies, concertgoers can expect everything from dramatic choreography to live looping, instrument imitation, and vocal percussion.

Among kudos for the group is a review from music blog Canadian Beats praising “incredible talent and vocal harmonies that will give you chills.”

Since forming in 2010, Countermeasure has earned standing ovations and critical acclaim worldwide, and the ensemble’s diverse songbook has made the group equally at home headlining international choral events, playing the main stage at jazz festivals, and enticing club-goers onto the dance floor.

Led by award-winning composer/producer Aaron Jensen, Countermeasure has recorded albums that have won recognition through awards and nominations from the international CARA Awards (Best Album, Best Song), the John Lennon Songwriting Competition (Best Jazz Song), and the Independent Music Awards (Best A Cappella Song).

The ensemble has recorded with Grammy and Juno award-winning artists including Randy Brecker, Natalie MacMaster, Ron Sexsmith, Alan Doyle, Evelyn Glennie, and The Barenaked Ladies; and performed alongside the likes of Corey Hart, Alan Frew, The Swingle Singers, and Naturally 7.

Currently recording their fourth album, Countermeasure has been busy touring Japan and Canada in 2023 and is preparing a performance season with symphony orchestras in 2024.

Tickets ($57.50) are available at https://www.bluefrogstudios.ca/store/p120/Countermeasure.html
