Modern madcap laughs in 'The Servant of Two Masters'

NEWTON - The audience experiences a struggling theatre company's botched play rehearsal in The Servant of Two Masters, brought here this week by Shadows & Dreams Theatre Company.

This version of Italian playwright Carlo Goldini's madcap comedy, originally written in 1743, was adapted by Oded Gross and Tracy Young.Shadows & Dreams launches its eighth season by bringing the show to Newton Cultural Centre's "black box" space from May 7 to 11, in partnership with Royal Canadian Theatre Company and the Arts Council of Surrey."It's an amazing space," said Kerri Norris, who plays lady servant Smeraldina in the show. In total, 12 actors and one musician are featured, including former Newton resident Nicole DesLauriers and Surrey teacher Mark Vandenberg.Show tickets are $20 at the door, and also via servant.bpt.me and 1-800-838-3006.
