A Delta man is $500,000 richer after winning the Extra prize in a recent Lotto 6/49 draw.

Lloyd Adams purchased his ticket for the Aug. 30 draw at the Shell station on Canoe Pass Way in Tsawwassen, and learned he was a winner when he checked the ticket during a later pit stop at the same location.

“I had a few tickets with small wins, but I had the retailer check this ticket because I was in disbelief at the self-scanner,” Adams recalled of the moment he learned he had won.

“I am a hard sell, however this is exciting.”

Adams’ wife was the first person he told about his win — “She was more excited than I was” — and with their wedding anniversary coming up, Adams said he “will have an extra special evening planned to celebrate.”

He says he enjoys exploring British Columbia and looks forward to helping his family and living life in general.

So far in 2023, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $29 million in winnings from the Extra and more than $81 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49, according to a BC Lottery Corporation press release.
