The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is asking anyone who witnessed an erratic driver on Sunday (April 7) between Surrey and Abbotsford to contact them.

APD media officer Const. Art Stele said the incident began at around 3:45 p.m., when police in Surrey received reports of the driver – in a red 2016 Chevy Cruze – travelling east along 100 Avenue from 148 Street.

“Citizens reported the vehicle travelling at high speeds, swerving all over the road and running multiple red lights,” Stele said.

The vehicle was then reported heading north on 160 Street towards Highway 1 and then east in the westbound lanes of the freeway.

Police were unable to locate the vehicle at that time, Stele said.

At around 5:20 p.m., the APD received 911 calls of the vehicle heading east in the westbound lanes in the 33500 block of Marshall Road in Abbotsford.

Stele said members of the traffic enforcement unit located the vehicle and detained the driver.

Police are now asking that anyone who saw the driver in the Surrey area, along Highway 1 or on Marshall Road, or who has dash-cam footage, to contact them.
