One man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after his SUV struck parked vehicles and rolled over in Whalley on Monday (Jan. 22).

Police in Surrey responded to a call of a reported two-vehicle collision in the 10200-block of 144 Street at 8:42 p.m.

The SUV, a Toyota Highlander, was travelling on 144 Street Monday evening when it struck a parked car, then rolled and hit a parked landscaping truck before coming to a stop on its roof, police say.

Some bystanders told a Black Press freelancer at the scene the driver of the SUV appeared to be impaired. “Investigators are looking into whether speed or alcohol may have been factors,” Surrey Mounties say.

BCEHS transported the driver, the lone occupant of the SUV to hospital. He has since been released.

Traffic in the area was impacted for a short time, police say.

The parked car that was struck was significantly damaged, according to the freelancer.

Police in Surrey are investigating.
