Tacofino opens in White Rock just in time for long weekend

Restaurant brings Tofino based, surf-and-sunshine vibes to city’s uptown

Got time for tacos?

The long-awaited Tacofino White Rock location officially opens this Friday (May 17), when the Tofino-based chain brings its iconic surf town vibes to the city’s Miramar Village.

Surf and sunshine are the combination that inspires Tacofino daydreams, so it seems only natural for them to bring their surf vibes and vibrant flavours to White Rock, the sunniest beach town in the Lower Mainland.

This Friday, at 3 p.m. — just in time for the long weekend — the newest Tacofino location will open at Miramar Village in central White Rock. With 20 indoor seats and a sun-splashed 16-seat patio, it will serve up a full menu of Tacofino classics including the iconic fish taco and crispy chicken burrito alongside new favourites like the irresistible soft & crunchies and melty gringas, a release notes.

A range of local beers and full cocktail service highlighted by Tacofino’s famous margaritas will also be available for dine-in customers, with a fast and tasty take-out menu perfect for beach days.

The design concept for the eatery draws deeply from the West Coast’s flower-powered history.

“The concept for the space is to create an interior with a retro vibe reminiscent of the poster art and psychedelic patterns from the ‘70s along the West Coast. It blends materials and colours unique to this location with more familiar Tacofino elements,” designer Shiloh Sukkau said in the release.

White Rock is a vibrant and growing part of the Lower Mainland, but it has always retained a small-town feel, which matches perfectly with Tacofino’s Tofino roots. With great neighbours and a location adjacent to the White Rock Farmers Market and Uptown Music Festival, Tacofino is excited to be a part of this tight-knit beachside community starting with White Rock Beach cleanup on May 11 hosted by longtime Tacofino partner, Surfrider Foundation.

“Since we started this project, we’ve been blown away by the warmth we’ve felt from everyone we’ve met ,” said Tacofino managing partner Gino Di Domenico. “Local businesses, the BIA, and city council have all taken time to welcome us and we’re looking forward to being part of this very special community.”

As a delicious thank-you to Tacofino lovers who have been waiting patiently for the White Rock location to open, the first 500 customers each day on Saturday May 18, Sunday May 19, and Monday May 20 will receive a free taco gift card (with purchase) that can be used from June 1 to July 3.

Tacofino White Rock will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with its famous happy hour, seven days a week.
