“We love what we do and it shows in what we create.”
For more than 20 years, customers have also shown Surrey’s La Belle Fleur Floral Boutique the love, and owner Tracy Bell couldn’t be happier.
“It’s the experience, knowledge, artistry and care we bring to each order,” she says. “We can bring your vision to life.”
Not only does the La Belle Fleur team have the knowledge and design expertise, but the freshness of their flowers ensures arrangements will last much longer. (In the week before Mother’s Day, for example, Bell will bring in fresh blooms four times!)
And then there’s the behind-the-scenes work that goes into their designs – small steps that make a big difference in the longevity of the arrangements. That means for events like Mother’s Day, you can arrange for them to be delivered on Thursday or Friday – avoiding the weekend crunch – and Mom will enjoy them for the entire weekend… and long after.
“When it’s someone this special, you want to trust your arrangement to the professionals,” Bell says.
For Mother’s Day – the busiest week for most florists – Bell advises clients to come in early and to think about Mom’s favourite flowers and colours so they can create a unique arrangement personalized just for her. While spring’s pastel colours are typical favourites, vibrant orange, hot pink and lime green is a popular combination – crafted with many flowers grown right here in the Lower Mainland.
The 100-mile diet becomes the 80-kilometre bouquet
Just like more families are choosing local growers and producers for their groceries, flowers are no different.
“Our clients like to know their flowers were grown down the road in Langley or South Surrey; they like to have that backstory behind their bouquet. In fact, while we’re pleased to offer roses from Ecuador and tropicals from Thailand and South Africa, most of what we have here comes from within 80 kilometres,” reflects Bell, who enjoys meeting the growers and touring the farms and greenhouses. “I can tell customers what’s coming up and what new varieties to watch for, and I can share with growers what customers might be looking for.”
Floral-inspired gift ideas
Bell’s support for “local” extends to the artists represented among La Belle Fleur’s artists – including glass artists, photographers, jewellers and mixed media artists.
“I’m an artist, so I know how difficult it can be to get your work out there, and we have so many talented local artists, we’re thrilled to be able to showcase their work,” Bell says, inviting shoppers to grab a coffee and really take their time enjoying all the beauty that surrounds them in the boutique.
