Bed races set to roll Thursday

CLOVERDALE – The 38th annual Cloverdale Bed Races Decorated Bike Parade will take place today (Thursday, May 14) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The bed races, launched in 1977 as a quirky publicity stunt signaling the start of the annual rodeo, has grown over the years to become a fun tradition on the streets of Cloverdale.

The race is split into four divisions, including men, women, media and mixed. Prizes for the winners of each division include the coveted Bed Pan trophy for men, the Chamber Pot for women and Stone Pig for media. There are also prizes for the best-dressed team.

Among other event rules, the men’s team consists of six men who push the bed with a lady on it. Also, a women’s team consists of six ladies who push the bed with a man on it.
